The Role of Religion

There are some smaller religions that follow the traditional paths; worshipping invisible deities with great powers, etc., but they are more likely to be found farther away from major civilization. The existence of “godlike” entities in major civilization (Beelzebozo, Lillith, etc.) has dispelled many people’s notions of gods as we traditionally see them. Some “gods”, though, have decided to capitalize on people’s willingness to “have faith” in things, and have started religions and personality cults to capitalize on their status. While the people who believe in such things tend to be steadfast and fanatic in their beliefs, thinking themselves to be the true scions of the only true god who could kick everyone else’s butts on any day of the week, other people look at them and feel only pity. This is not to say that superstition doesn’t still exist; some societies believe that their strength comes from the honoring of their ancestors or perhaps that the stars themselves are watching over them or some such, but generally people don’t let superstitions like this rule over their daily lives like a religion might.

Note: there are some who worship Beelzebozo as a god, but they don’t tend to last long. Beelzebozo’s not really into that.
